The heaviness, noise and menacing intensity haven't been eschewed at all, and on their fifth album, the band still come across as very confident and promising. It's just a shame that after this album, Discharge would slowly deteriorate both creatively and musically. If you loved Discharge's earliest years, then this album will be hard to get into. If however, you are a fan of straightforward, no-nonsense heavy metal, then you may find it a very decent listen.

Overall the band performs better than before, but it still feels really phoned in and still quite tired. It is also fake as FUCK, simple as, despite a few hints of inspiration here and there suggesting otherwise. Songwriting is mostly conventional too. With the band stripped of all energy and inspiration, the limitations and flaws of Discharge's trademark formula are plain to see to be fair though, that is true of literally any hardcore band.
These songs feel far more repetitious, redundant and stale than their leaner, meaner early '80s counterparts, despite being constructed in a similar fashion. They still feel a bit more tolerable than before, due to increased enthusiasm, but they still suck, and listening to this album is a huge chore and bore as a result. Though one of the worst songs ever vocally, instrumentally it is quite good.
